Protect your elderly relatives with a CCTV system

If you have an elderly relative that lives at home on their own it can be worrying if you can not visit them on a daily basis. They may not be able to answer their phone so checking in on them may not be possible but installing a CCTV system in their home can allow you to monitor their movements and check on their wellbeing.

Installing a CCTV system must only be done with the person’s permission otherwise it is an invasion of their privacy, but many elderly people may be glad that someone is able to check on them and see whether they are in need of help and assistance. Cameras can be situated so that areas such as bathrooms and bedrooms are not covered however it should be kept in mind that the majority of falls sustained by the elderly occur in these rooms.

Once the CCTV system is installed it can be set up so that the footage can be viewed remotely on a smartphone via Wi-Fi. Some systems allow the viewer to speak through the cameras which would be good if you were concerned about the person’s welfare. They would be able to respond to you and ask for assistance if needed giving peace of mind to anyone caring for their relatives.
