Pentagon proposes to shrink US Army to pre-WWII level

The Pentagon plans to cut back the united states Army by greater than an eighth to its lowest level since before World War II, signaling a shift after greater than a decade of ground wars. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel recommended shrinking US forces from 520,000 active duty troops to between 440,000 and 450,000. Pakistan air force strikes on militant hideouts kill a minimum of 38

Pakistani fighter jets on Sunday launched air strikes on militant hideouts inside the northwest, killing at the very least 38 people, in step with officials, inside the latest retaliation for attacks by the insurgents which have derailed peace talks. The early morning strikes made on militant hideouts within the Tirah valley of the Khyber tribal district were the third within the series of raids by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) since February 20. Israel Will Buy 6 Osprey Aircraft

Calling Israel’s self-defense capabilities and its qualitative military edge “central to both Israel and U.S. security interests,” Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced tonight that Israel will buy six V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft for its air force.
